My Journey Through The "X's."

A lot of you probably remember this pic I posted from September of last year when I was complaining about fat people shirts costing more:

Folks, I have no idea how much I weighed then, but I'm guessing it was probably around 380 or so. My weigh fluctuates, but I settled at 370 for a long time. That shirt is The Missus', and you can see how well it fit me.

The good news is that I've been making some huge changes in how I live. I refuse to call it dieting, because a diet has an end. What I'm doing has no end. It is a lifestyle change that leads to the ultimate goal of a healthier Travis. For those of you following me on Twitter and Facebook, (which you can do a little further down on the page) you know that I've lost about 47 pounds in the last 5 weeks.

I was sitting on the couch yesterday morning, and I looked at The Missus and said, "We should take a picture of me in that shirt."

And it came to pass:

I'll be the first to say, it's still not the prettiest picture in the world, but folks, I feel damn good about it. You should know that I'm not sucking in, I'm not stretching the shirt, and I have not altered this in any way.

I'm pretty proud of myself.

However, my pride was quickly deflated when I showed Kid Funk these pictures and he said, "Your hair is longer."

Bastard.

I'm going to continue my healthier way of living, which includes massive amounts of exercise, and my ultimate goal is to weigh 200 pounds. I currently weigh 323, and I have an alternate goal to be at 320 before TAR, which is this Friday! Wish me luck.

And that is my own personal journey through the X's.

  1. I am one of your silent reader and rarely comment. This time, I shall. Great Job. I agree with not calling the weight loss as a diet, instead a change in life style. Since healthy eating is a lifetime commitment. Good for you.

  21. Kid Funk and I must travel on the same wavelength, because I thought the same thing about the hair.

And then I kind of pictured you with a Rorschach mask on, because I'm sick and twisted and nerdly like that.

  22. Great job, T. My biggest accomplishment was to quit smoking cold turkey. What you are doing is even more difficult than that and you are doing a great job of it. Keep it up and Ed will ask you to marry him.

  23. I'm a silent reader too. But this is one post, I have to leave a comment. Excellent! What an inspiration!

I'd like to read more about how you are accomplishing this - what type of workout schedule and food changes you've made. I know it's all logical stuff - work out more and eat less, but somewhere in there is motivation, the kind that is long term and you obviously have it! Kudos!

  24. Travis you sexy thang you! Way to go! That is such an accomplishment! Keep it up!

    check this out

    http://soulmange.blogspot.com/2010/04/i-married-loser-and-other-stuff.html

--- and he's still runnin strong-- without exercise running his life-- he works, he fishes, he may tell you what he eats and what he doesn't -- but he hasn't told many folks of his' secret 'diet plan'.. which trust me-- doesn't make him suffer much at all'. he's been doin this since january -- no hard exercise at all.. in fact he only a week or two ago bought a bicycle -- to replace the life cycle at the gym.. which was his main thing.
check out the post -- and hey i bet you'll hit your goal-weight in no time. and still be able to fish. only thing that stops him is the wind or work. -- maybe another obligation or two-- no GD exercise plan...ever.

    go fishin trav !!

    again-- great job !!!
    happy humpday !

  37. Travis,

I am so impressed and you look great. I'm just worried you're losing too fast. Please be careful. almost 10 pounds per week is too much. I know you want to get healthy, but I'm just concerned you're going at it too hard. Promise me you'll be careful?

You have come a long way. You are strong. You can do it---just don't rush so much---your body might crack under all the pressure. Be good to it.

    ;-)
    That's all I'm sayin'.

  39. Travis - you are a freakin' rock star! I love that this is not a diet - I'm also subcribing to that theory this year. My goal is to be healthier; if I lose weight, great, if not, oh well. As long as I can still get out and do what I want to.

I hope you all have a great time at TAR! I'm rather jealous of y'all. Have fun, I'll be waiting for updates here in snowy - wait, it melted - here in previously snowy Colorado.

  40. Dude, that rocks! Good for you! And good for you for seeing it as a lifestyle change, not a diet. The most important step ever...
